A pending transaction on your Pay with GasBuddy account is usually a pre-authorization hold, not an error or a duplicate charge. A hold is placed when you swipe your card at the pump, before the station reports the final fuel amount. Only the amount of fuel you actually purchased is withdrawn from your linked account.
Why is the pending amount higher than the fuel I pumped?
The pending amount is a pre-authorization hold based on your available daily limit, not on the fuel you dispensed. It will not match your final total until the station sends us the actual transaction details, which typically arrives within 1 to 4 hours. Once we receive those details, the hold is replaced by the final amount and your transaction history is updated.
How long does a pending transaction take to clear?
- If the transaction completed: the pending placeholder is replaced by the actual charge within 1 to 3 business days.
- If you swiped your card but did not pump fuel: the pre-authorization hold falls off within 7 business days. No funds are withdrawn.
- If the initial payment attempt was unsuccessful: the pending authorization falls off within 7 business days.
Why does my linked card show as a credit card when I pay from checking?
Your linked payment method may display as a credit card because of how Deal Alerts and rewards are applied to your purchase. The funds themselves are still processed from the active checking account linked to your Pay with GasBuddy account.
When will I receive my receipt?
A copy of your GasBuddy receipt is emailed to you within 3 to 5 days of the transaction. For more information about receipts and transaction history click HERE
