How to Pay an Outstanding Balance
If you have an outstanding balance on your account, you can resolve it directly through the GasBuddy app.
Step 1: Make sure your app is up to date
Ensure you have the latest version of the GasBuddy app installed.
Step 2: Go to the Member tab
-
Open the app.
-
Navigate to the Member tab.
-
Tap Resolve Now to view the details of your balance and the available payment options.
Step 3: If you don’t see the “Member” tab
You may be using an older version of the app. Follow these steps instead:
-
Tap the menu icon in the top-left corner.
-
Select Savings Settings.
-
Tap Your Pay with GasBuddy+™ Account.
Payment Options
When resolving your balance, you’ll see two options:
Option 1: Rerun the Transaction
You can choose to reprocess the outstanding payment using your currently linked bank account.
-
Make sure sufficient funds are available before retrying.
-
If no action is taken, the system will automatically attempt to rebill the outstanding amount using your linked account.
Option 2: Link a New Bank Account
You can also add a new bank account directly through the Resolve Now option.
-
Once linked, the new account will be used to pay the balance and for all future transactions.
-
If you link your account manually (by entering your routing and account numbers), you’ll need to verify two small deposits from GasBuddy before transactions can be processed.
No app access?
If you do not have the app and need to change your linked bank account, please submit a ticket HERE.
Reactivating Your Card
Once your payment clears, your card will be automatically reactivated within 3–5 business days (Monday–Friday, excluding holidays).
This timeframe ensures the transaction is fully processed and error-free before reactivation.
Return Fees Explained
If your financial institution returns a transaction unpaid, GasBuddy adds a return fee to the rebilled amount.
-
This fee is separate from any charges your bank may apply*
-
To avoid return fees, please make sure funds are available both at the time of purchase and while the transaction is being processed.
*Your bank, at their own discretion, may charge an insufficient funds fee (also known as an NSF, a chargeback, or an overdraft fee) in the event you do not have enough funds in your account to pay for a transaction made with the Pay with GasBuddy+™ card. These fees can range between $25-$50 and are collected by your bank. While your statement may show `GASBUDDY` in the line description of an insufficient funds fee (NSF, chargeback, or overdraft fee), this is simply to inform you of the transaction that caused the fee, this fee is not imposed by, or the responsibility of GasBuddy.
