This Location Collection and Sharing Disclosure (the “Disclosure”) describes GasBuddy, LLC’s practices relating to the collection, use, and sharing of location data and related data points, collected through our mobile applications and services. This may include the collection of location information through third-party software development kits (“SDKs”) that are incorporated into the GasBuddy app.
This Disclosure provides the information required to support your informed consent to thec collection, use, and sharing of your location data. Information That We Collect
If you have enabled location tracking in the GasBuddy app, we may collect the following information relating to your location. Depending on your device settings, this may include the real-time collection of your location information, including when the app is not open or in use.
- Approximate or precise geolocation (depending on the level of permissions that you have enabled);
- Electronic identifiers (e.g., device ID, IP address, mobile ad ID, GasBuddy account ID, etc.);
- Timestamps and metadata associated with location points;
- Inferences drawn from location data (e.g., behavioral patterns, audience segments, etc.); and
- Sensor data (e.g., GPS, Wi-Fi signals, Bluetooth connections, cell tower locations, etc.).
How We Use Location Data
We may use your location data for the following purposes:
- Providing our services, including finding gas prices near your location;
- Analytics and measurements;
- Enabling location-based deals or promotions; and
- Advertising purposes
How We Disclose Location Data
We disclose data to the following categories of third parties and for the following purposes:
- Advertising networks and affiliates for cross-contextual marketing purposes (e.g., Foursquare Labs, Inc., Amazon Publisher Services, Google Ad Manager, PubMatic, AppNexus);
- Data brokers (e.g., Foursquare Labs, Inc., Pubmatic).
- Our own service providers that require location data to support GasBuddy’s ability to provide its products and services;
Your Rights
You may withdraw your consent to our collection or disclosure of your precise geolocation information at any time. You may do so by:
- Modifying your location consent settings on your device, which will disable our collection of your location information within the GasBuddy app. Note that this will affect your ability to use location-based features in the app.
- Submitting a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, here. If you exercise this right, we will no longer disclose your personal information (including location data) to third parties for their own purposes, including cross-contextual marketing.
